Shackleton's Journey

Shackleton’s Journey

This is an ongoing series of prints inspired by Frank Hurley’s photographs made during Ernest Shackleton‘s’ disastrous voyage to the Antarctic in 1915. The prints are an ode to the arctic landscape itself, as a place of emptiness where imagination can roam freely, as well as to the courage it takes to get there and bring us back images of great beauty. The giclee prints are montages of using Hurley’s photos, my own photos, math formulas and diagrams, satellite photographs, and flora and fauna from times present and past.
